Summer craft activities every Tuesday & Thursday throughout the summer holidays.
All crafts are drop in sessions from 11.30am - 3.30pm.
£2 per child.
Tuesday 24th July: Mini Kites
Have a go at making a mini kite, wait for a gust of wind and see if it flies!
Thursday 26th July: Craft a Crown!
Henry VIII is visiting Blakesley Hall tomorrow (Friday 27th) so in preparation we are making crowns to show him what a right royal bunch we are. Will yours be tall and jewel encrusted or furry with ribbons on? Make your crown unique to you, ready to show to the King himself.
Tuesday 31st July: Jungle Walkie Talkies
Remember connecting two cups together with a piece of string and using them to talk to your friends? It's that, but we are giving you all the craft materials to make yours super cool and unique to you.
Thursday 2nd August: Dinosaur Headgear!
To celebrate Dippy the Diplodocus visiting Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery we are making dinosaur headgear at Blakesley Hall. Make a Pterodactyl beak, Triceratops horns, Stegosaurus spikes or anything you can think of with our pile of Cretaceous Crafts.
Tuesday 7th August: Making Musical Instruments
Try out making your own simple musical instruments with us at Blakesley. Use a range of materials and containers to create instruments like drums, maracas or panpipes.
Thursday 9th August: Create a Coat of Arms Shield!
It's our Knight School event on Sunday 12th August so in preparation you can make your very own shield and design a coat of arms to put on it! Heraldry uses lots of different animals which mean different things, so you can learn what they mean and choose which animals to put on your shield. Choose the animals which represent you best!
Tuesday 14th August: Plant Pots
Use a range of craft materials to decorate a plant pot or make your own, fill the pot with some Blakesley garden soil and plat a seed in it. Take it home and water it to see what grows!
Thursday 16th August: Summer Garden Sun Catchers
Choose a Summer garden themed template like a butterfly, flower, bumblebee or dragonfly, or make your own. Use glue to add multicoloured sheets to fill in your template. Put it up on your windows and see the sun light up your new sun catcher.
Tuesday 21st August: Summer Holiday Crafts
Celebrate the summer holidays by making and designing your own holiday postcards, design and make a flag to stick in the Blakesley sandcastle.
Thursday 23rd August: Raft Crafts!
Make your own raft and pirate hat, design a character to stand on the raft and see if it floats!
Tuesday 28th August: Story Sticks
Have a go at making your own story stick. Harness your creativity and turn a stick into a colourful, crafty story using lots of colourful materials. You can tell the story of your day. Or your life. Or a story you’ve made up!
Thursday 30th August: Totem Poles & Headdresses
Make your very own totem pole, designing each face with different colours and materials. Also make a headdress and decorate with colourful materials.
