Collecting Birmingham:
Have Your Say!

In a blog post last month we introduced Birmingham Museums’ Collecting Birmingham project  and today we would love to invite you to take part!

This month we were very excited to launch our first sets of focus groups for the project which will see groups of community members meeting together to share stories of Birmingham, look at historical themes and ideas and ultimately help Birmingham Museums choose objects to collect (all over a cup of tea and a slice of cake).

If you would like to join in and help select the objects Birmingham Museums collects and the stories it tells then sign up to take part.

Community Consultation 2

We currently have two sets of sessions to choose from; one at the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter on Thursday nights and the other at Soho House Museum on Wednesday afternoons.

Attendees are asked to join us for three sessions over three months (in September, October and November) so that we can develop themes, ideas and stories together. There will also be the opportunity to take part in a later session to assist with an exhibition at the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter.

The focus groups are free and open to anyone that lives in the four wards of Aston, Ladywood, Nechells and Soho. So if you have a passion for your local area, a story to tell, want to get involved with Birmingham Museums or are simply proud to be a Brummie; come and join us! Or if you have any friends, family or colleagues who you think might be interested, please pass on details of these sessions to them too.

Sign Up to Take Part
