Dippy on Tour: A Natural History Adventure

The Natural History Museum’s famous Diplodocus is taking a road trip to Birmingham. The British icon is on a mission to encourage families to explore nature on their doorstep. The Dippy education programme for summer 2018 is sure to be as popular as the exhibition itself!

The Story of Dippy the Dinosaur

Designed specifically for KS1 and SEN learners, this hands-on exciting session will bring the story of Dippy the Dinosaur to life by exploring the world Dippy came from, his friends, and Prehistoric ecosystems. Using fossils and replicas, students will be able to touch, document and discuss their findings.

KS1 and SEN. Duration: 45 minutes.

Dinosaur Detectives

Designed for KS2 and above, this interactive session will allow students to take on the role of detective, interrogating fossils and replicas to hunt for and document dinosaur facts and clues about the Prehistoric world. From monsters to myths, Victorian fossil hunters to current scientists, students will be encouraged to discuss how our knowledge of dinosaurs and other Prehistoric animals has changed over time.

KS2 and above. Duration: 45 minutes.

Dino Dig Excavation Workshop

In this fun, practical and cross-curricular workshop, students will have the chance to experience what it is like to be a paleontologist, using tools to excavate bones, fossils and fragments as we uncover our own dinosaur skeleton in our giant sandpit. Groups will be able to record their findings and create their own mini display board of evidence to take back to the classroom.

KS1 or KS2. Duration: 45 minutes.

Using our fabulous new LEGO Education Innovation Studio, your classes can have a creative building session like no other. Using specialist LEGO Education kits your pupils will discover new ways of learning as they build, play and work together.

Combining the familiar LEGO® bricks with easy-to-use coding software and inspiring STEM projects.

LEGO MINDSTORMS® Education EV3, empowers students to make coding a reality through real life problem solving and hands-on learning experiences. With a teaching philosophy of Build, Code, Test you and your pupils will have a great learning experience which will be remembered for a long time.

KS3. Duration: 45 minutes.

LEGO WeDo 2.0

Awaken your pupils’ curiosity, science and computing skills with a LEGO WeDo 2.0 session.

Your will learn how to identify problems, come up with solutions and how to build and code to test their own ideas. By using the LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 equipment your class will have a great STEM learning experience as well as an enjoyable one.

KS2. Duration: 45 minutes.

Duplo Café

Designed to stimulate children to play and collaborate as they construct various food items and learn to sort, count, match, and spot patterns.

The unique and colourful bricks, as well as menu and recipe cards, inspire language and role-play around restaurants, shopping, and people’s needs. Your class will be practising basic maths as they play with this engaging set.

A ground-breaking exhibition which marks the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of male homosexual acts in England and Wales. This exhibition will feature modern and contemporary artworks by internationally renowned artists who explore themes of gender, sexuality and identity in art.
