Festive nights at the museums in store for Birmingham

Always fancied having yourself a merry little Christmas somewhere more unusual? Well this festive season, you can have your wish without even having to ask Santa Claus. Birmingham Museums has Christmas all wrapped up with each of its venues offering packages that are sure to send your guests crackers with excitement!

Whether you’re looking for a delicious traditional Christmas dinner, an elegant drinks reception, or a taste of a brand-new Festive Afternoon Tea, the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery has something to suit. Its VIP area in the Edwardian Tearooms and historic Round Room gallery provide the perfect background for a Christmas get-together . What’s more, each of Birmingham Museums Heritage Sites will be able to host your celebrations, meaning that whether your party has 2 guests or 600 guests, there will be a space for you.

Fine dining takes centre stage at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, where guests can expect a freshly prepared four-course dinner and drinks. Not only can guests opt for traditional turkey with all the trimmings and Christmas pudding to follow, those looking to mix-up the menu can get their festive fill too. Dishes such as lamb shank, pepper mackerel and chocolate ganache tart are also available.

Searching for something a little bit different? Look no further than Thinktank, Birmingham Science Museum. The tech-xperts are teaming up with Millennium Point and gaming specialists, Joypads, to offer guests two unforgettable Christmas packages . Party-goers can choose to enjoy their Christmas drinks under Thinktank’s Spitfire or fill up on Christmas-inspired street food bites in Millennium Point’s ‘The Platform’ space. Next the festive-fun goes up a gear with Joypads’ gaming pods, where guests can play retro video games all night!

Alex Nicholson-Evans, Commercial Director at Birmingham Museums Trust, is especially proud of Birmingham Museums’ out-of-the-ordinary offering. Speaking about this year’s packages, Alex said:

“We are really excited about the Christmas packages we have on offer this year. Our Birmingham Museums sites bring such joy to people throughout the year, so it’s only right that we continue to spread some festive cheer at our unique venues around Christmas time. In fact, for us this is what it is all about, as the profits made from every party, dinner, or drinks reception ensures we can keep caring for Birmingham’s unique collection and heritage, making sure it can be enjoyed for generations to come.

“From inspiring the next scientists and historians through our learning programme to preserving our beautiful heritage sites which provide a fascinating glimpse into Birmingham's rich and vibrant past, every booking we make over Christmas and throughout the year helps to ensure we can keep doing what we do.”

So whether you are looking for tradition or Tetris, turkey or street food bites, afternoon tea or an after-work tipple, Birmingham Museums is the place to head for your own merry Christmas.
