Half Term Family Fun - Get into the ‘spirit’ of Halloween at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery

Come along to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery for some Half Term family fun as we get into the ‘spirit’ of Halloween!

We will be holding make-and-take activities every day during the week, from brains in jars to fiendish drawbotz. Bring your little mummies, witches and vampires to the Monster Madness Party, perfect entertainment for 'dead' good dancers! 

Investigate gruesome museum objects with our team of museum volunteers, and take the chance to have a spooky-style photo taken in our portrait studio.

A summary of our spooky half term events programme is below:

(Please note there is currently a short detour in place to get to the entrance,  but don't worry it will only take a few minutes to walk!)

Gruesome Object Handling

Monday 23 to Friday  27 October

11am-1pm and 2pm-4pm

Get hands on with real museum artefacts and some seriously spooky replicas to bring gruesome tales from the past to life!

Halloween Arts & Crafts

Monday 23, Tuesday 24, Thursday 26 and Friday 27 October 

11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm

Drop-in and try out a variety of Halloween inspired make and take crafts during half term:

  • Monday – Halloween Masks. £1 per child.
  • Tuesday – Ancient Egyptian Potions, Curses & Cures . £2 per child.
  • Thursday – Brain in Jars. £2 per child.
  • Friday – Sugar Skull Masks. £1 per child.

Spooky Portrait Studio

Monday 23, Tuesday 24, Thursday 26 and Friday 27 October 

11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm

Pop into our spooky portrait studio and take home a souvenir of your half term visit and capture a photo of your spooky Halloween costumes.

£1.00 per print.

Monster Madness Museum Party

Wednesday 25 October

2.00pm - 4.00pm

Bring your little mummies, witches and vampires along to enjoy a spooktacular ‘Monsters at the Museum’ party.

Fiendish Drawbotz

Saturday 28 - Sunday 29 October

11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm

Mix art and technology to create your own drawing robot!

£2 per child.

Weekend Family Arts

11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm

Join us for our weekend family arts sessions, get creative and make something new.

  • Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 October - Make a Magnetic Fridge Frame
  • Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October - Make a Halloween Finger Puppet
