Silver Treasure Project

Pupils from St Huberts and Old Hill primary schools, Sandwell, worked with artist silversmith Theresa Nguyen and writer Mandy Ross on Silver Treasure, a Heritage Lottery Fund project. 

Learning about silversmithing techniques through the ages, the children took inspiration from the Staffordshire Hoard and from contemporary silversmithing in the Jewellery Quarter to design and make their own beautiful metalwork gifts. They wrote poetry and leaflets exploring the ancient techniques and modern skills they discovered.  Read More...

Thinktank is pleased to announce that our latest Home Educator Day will be on Friday 26th February 2016.  The theme for this day is Destination Space and the day has been developed in conjunction with the UK Space Agency to coincide with Tim Peake’s current mission to the International Space Station.

Destination Space: Launch Event

Join us on Tuesday 15 December for the launch of the Destination Space schools project. Backed by the UK Space Agency, science centres across the UK, including Thinktank, are joining forces with Tim Peake, the European Space Agency’s first British astronaut.

To coincide with his trip to the International Space Station, a new schools programme has been developed to provide children with a unique opportunity to learn about human space flight and follow life on the International Space Station. Read More...
