The Ancient Egypt gallery will be closed 1pm-5pm on Thursday November 22nd. It will reopen on Friday November 23rd.
The Ancient Egypt Gallery features artefacts from over 3000 years of Egyptian life, culture and religious belief.
You will discover objects from the Predynastic period 4500-3000 BC through to the major pharaonic periods of Egyptian civilisation and into the Christian and Coptic era (around 200 AD). It includes pottery and items from daily life as well as Egyptian gods, amulets and mummies which illustrate attitudes to death and the afterlife.
The elaborately bandaged Graeco-Roman mummy with gilded terracotta studs, donated in 1894, is also on display in this gallery.
