We will be running a different artist led activity every Tuesday . A chance to try out art materials and techniques, all based on our collections.

Drop-in workshop suitable for all ages.

Tickets are £2.00 per participating child – please purchase your ticket at the Vestibule reception desk (next to the Round Room) before joining us in the Industrial Gallery.

At busy times we may ask visitors to wait until a space become available.

Tuesday 8th August - Winged creations!

Join artist, Kate Tilley, for this drop-in family workshop inspired by our collections.

During the workshop, children will make their own flying character based on art works showing wings – why not have a look around to spot a few before joining the workshop to make your own angel, fairy or person? Children will use rubbings from textured surfaces and materials to create lovely, magical patterned paper for their wings.

Tuesday 15th August - Mini Portraits Workshop

Take inspiration from the many portraits on display in our galleries, and join artist, Anne Brierley to create your own portrait using lots of different art materials. You could choose to do a self-portrait, or even one of your friends or family.

Tuesday 22nd August - Fantastical Creatures

The collections on display in and around the Industrial Gallery show lots of different beasts, animals and myths. In this workshop, artist Anne Brierley will be helping you to make your own decorative tile, badge or brooch out of mixed media to show your own creature creations!

Tuesday 29 August - Make a Story Plate

Join artist, Anne Brierley, to use paper craft to make your own story picture. Sketch from, or take a look at, all of the stories on display in the Industrial Gallery, from the stained glass windows, to the figures decorating our ceramics collections.
