Join us in the Faith in Birmingham Gallery for a performance of Khayal. Khayal is a genre of classical singing in North India. Its name comes from an Arabic word meaning 'imagination'. This activity forms part of the museum's program for Islam Awareness Week (IAW) . The activity is free, drop in and suitable for families.
Take time to see the incredible Birmingham Qur'an during your visit, only on display until August 3rd.
The Islamic Society of Britain initiated Islam Awareness Week (IAW) in 1994, to raise awareness and remove misconceptions surrounding Britain’s second largest faith group.
IAW has been taking place in many towns and cities across the UK and since the year 2000. The main idea of IAW is to promote social cohesion rather than dwelling on differences.
This event is run in partnership with Lafz magazine .
