Join tour guide Jane for tours: The Art of the Baroque (at 12pm) and The Pre-Raphaelites – an art revolution (at 2pm).

12pm - The Art of the Baroque

A tour focusing on Italian and Northern European art of the 17th century; including a wide range of subjects, from the religious and mythological, to secular and seascape.

2pm -  The Pre-Raphaelites – an art revolution

When a group of seven young artists formed the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood in 1848, they started an art movement that aspired to change the nature of English painting; to create something entirely new. In technique, materials and subject matter they achieved their ends… but did they manage to throw off the shackles of their Royal Academy background? Did they represent something entirely new? Were they revolutionary? This tour will include major early Brotherhood paintings, portraits and some lesser known works.
