Join tour guide Christine for tours: Pre-Raphaelite Followers (at 12pm) and A French Connection (at 2pm).

12pm - Pre-Raphaelite Followers

BMAG’S acclaimed Pre Raphaelite collection is strong in works from the early days of the Brotherhood, founded in 1848.

From the generation of artists that followed them, there were those who sought to be part of this new school of English Art and seek the truth to nature that the PRB had embraced. This tour will concentrate on these fellow travellers who include Arthur Hughes, Frederick Sandys and William Shaw. It will also look at Burne-Jones and his influence on the Birmingham School of Art.

2pm - A French Connection

A tour of artworks with a connection to France, particularly those of the 19th and early 20th centuries, with the impact of political and social equality reflected in art.
