Illuminate is a jewellery exhibition highlighting new work by four jewellers from Centrepiece Jewellery: Katherine Campbell-Legg, Miranda Sharpe, Nobuko Okumura & Rita Patel.

Centrepiece Jewellery is a collective of contemporary jewellery designer makers based in and around Birmingham’s historic jewellery quarter. Formed in 1997, they will be celebrating their 21st year exhibiting and selling their work at Birmingham’s prestigious Symphony Hall.

The museum looks back at life in a factory, where traditional tools and techniques were employed in the manufacture and creation of jewellery.

Hidden behind the shop frontages of today’s jewellery quarter, small workshops exist where jewellers still work using many of the same tools and techniques to hand make jewellery.

Exploring the riches of the museum and its collections, our jewellers have been inspired to create new works that illuminate the unique history of the Jewellery Quarter.

As the face of the jewellery quarter changes over time, the Centrepiece jewellers are a continuum of its past tradition whilst embracing new developments in technology and industry advancement in the process of making.
