Join us for a special costumed guided tour and talk marking the final Women’s Work tour of autumn.
Hear about the work undertaken by women from the late 1800’s until the 1980’s and the many vitally important jobs that women worked, from working in the office to manual work such as press work, polishing and enamelling.
These women were instrumental in not only making the jewellery quarter the world’s largest jewellery manufacturing area, but also making Birmingham the work shop of the world, city of a thousand trades.
These women are the often neglected heroines of the metal working trade. Working long hours in dirty, noisy, dangerous conditions, for very little pay. This tour celebrates their hard work and fortitude.
In addition to this tour there will be a short talk with a glass of sparkling wine (or non-alcoholic alternative) for every ticketholder, celebrating the Women of the Jewellery Quarter.
Please arrive early to be seated for the talk which starts at 1pm.
