Thinktank is pleased to be holding its very first Wikipedia event run by our Wikipedian in Residence, Andy Mabbett.

This editathon will focus on creating Wikipedia content about the Science and Industry collection.  Participants will have an exclusive preview of (and be able to photograph) objects recently acquired for the forthcoming new Spitfire Gallery, plus talks, and the opportunity to work with curators.

Assistance will be available for new editors. Admission charges for the museum will be waived for participants.

To book your place phone 0121 348 8263 or email findout@birminghammuseums.org.uk  (with the subject line "Wikipedia Editathon 7 March").

What to bring

You can bring a laptop and use the venue's free Wi-Fi, but we will be in a room equipped with internet-connected PCs. Photography will be allowed, so bring your cameras and tripods.

A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements.

How to prepare

If you don't already have a Wikipedia account, please sign up for one. Make sure to bring a note of the account name and password, on the day! You might like to research a topic to write about, but don't worry if you don't have time, or can't think of a subject. If it's a new article, it must meet our notability guidelines.

Check back here shortly before the event, for any last-minute notices.
