Nature is taking over! As we spend more time in our homes, we want to encourage families, young people, and adults to explore their natural environment and join us for a BioBlitz!

You will explore Blakesley Hall’s beautiful gardens recording the plants, animals, and insects you find. Our Natural Science Curator will help you identify and record your finds.

Each ticket holder will receive a Bug Collector take home, to help study their finds, as well as a spotter’s guide and worksheet. Get hands on with animal specimens and activities to explore the science behind Climate Change.

We will also be joined by Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust who work to conserve biodiversity, improve the environment and raise awareness and understanding of wildlife issues. Meet some of their team and learn about the wildlife right on your doorstep.

What is a BioBlitz?

A BioBlitz focuses on a specific area, finding and identifying as many species as possible in a short period of time giving a snapshot of the area’s biodiversity.

The data people collect can also be shared with regional wildlife data collecting programmes and apps which all help us better understand the world around us and our contribution to it.

Get involved and get recording!

Pre-booking is advised to guarantee access to the event. Only children taking part require a ticket, adult access to the gardens is free.

Birmingham Museums Trust is a registered charity and money raised through events like this help us care for beautiful buildings like Blakesley Hall.
