Birmingham Museums Supports Local Community Covid-19 Testing and Vaccination Training

Birmingham Museums have temporarily repurposed two of its sites to support the fight against Covid-19.

Thinktank, Birmingham’s award-winning Science Museum, is supporting the NHS roll-out of the coronavirus vaccine programme by repurposing its Events Suite as a vital training centre, and the car park at historic property, Blakesley Hall, is now being used as a temporary testing centre.

With Millennium Point home to the first NHS mass vaccination centre in Birmingham, Thinktank’s Events Suite is an ideal location for the NHS to provide training to those delivering the vaccine programme.

The temporary mobile test centre at Blakesley Hall is open to the local community for walk-in lateral flow Covid-19 tests 7 days a week until Sunday 14 March 2021.

Alex Nicholson-Evans, Commercial Director at Birmingham Museums, said:
“We are honoured to be supporting both local community testing and the NHS in rolling out training to those delivering the vaccine to people across Birmingham. While our museums remain closed, we are thrilled to be able to provide space for both testing and training.”
