Celebrating LGBT history month we explore the idea of femininity and to be fem as seen through our world class art collection.

Lacey Lou is a local drag icon, activist and artist. Join Lacey as she takes you on a queer tour around the historical artworks at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the contemporary collection in our exhibitions Women Power Protest and Too Cute! . This gallery tour and talk looks at how artists have addressed conversations around being fem. What is the power of fem today? Is fem about binary gender or a way for everyone to express themselves?

Delving into the stories behind the art, share some time with a powerful queen as she reads the artwork as feminist, artist and queer activist. This powerful tour will look at Lacey own experience of how misogyny has shaped her arts practice, the battle to recapture and promote being fem, and the magical ways in which this can happen.

Queer the collection with Lacey! Relaxed, funny, moving and detailed, this tour is a safe inclusive space to explore art and queer narratives in great company. Contains adult content and language – tour begins in the round room gallery.
