Respectable, virtuous, saucy, feisty and heroic - just some of the ways in which women have been portrayed in art over the centuries. Why was the artwork created and by whom? What was the inspiration behind it? Is it a fairly straightforward representation, or is there more than meets the eye? Has the artist captured the essence and characteristics of the model or character being portrayed?

Join Rachael Saice as she examines a number of artworks representing these fascinating and different aspects of womankind.
