Join tour guide Jane for tours:  Treasures of the Museum (at 12pm) and It's an Illusion (at 2pm).

12pm - Treasures of the Museum

Take a look at some of our most treasured collections on display throughout the galleries.

2pm - It's an Illusion

Since Ancient Greek and Roman times, tricks of the eye or optical illusions have always been a source of fascination for artists, who have found ways of persuading the brain to perceive more in a painting than is actually there. Optical Art was a major development of painting in the 1960s. It used precise pattern and colour to create optical effects, ranging from the subtle to the disturbing and disorientating. The tour will include the Op-Art works and will also look at more conventional paintings that contain their own illusions.
