Learn about one of the oldest houses in Birmingham by investigating the domestic life of the wealthy Smalbroke family.
Contrast the lives of the Smalbroke with their servants by exploring the house and investigating historical artefacts. Pupils will discover key features of a Tudor house and learn vocabulary relating to the structure of the building. They will examine various historical rooms and hear sounds that would have occurred over 400 years ago. In the afternoon pupils will undertake some science experiments they will learn the uses and properties of different materials. Looking at Tudor plants and dyeing cloths to light sources through Tudor window glass.
