Book Session

Learn about this local heroine and her rags to riches story.

Handling genuine artefacts and costumes, we’ll investigate Kathleen’s childhood growing up in poverty in the Hockley slums in the late Victorian period.

Visit the jewellery factory and find out about Kathleen’s teenage years as a press hand. Pupils will experience the sights and sounds of the factory as the machines spring into action.

Please note: Due to the size of the museum and to ensure all pupils get the best experience possible, this workshop has self-led elements, although we provide all resources required for the workshop. Teacher Notes will be provided when you book your visit to allow you to come prepared on the day.

School visits to the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter are available Tuesday - Friday.
