Five Birmingham Museums Trust sites have been awarded Full Accreditation through the Arts Council England UK Museum Accreditation Scheme, recognising the high standards of care, governance and public engagement delivered across our organisation.

Thinktank, Birmingham Science Museum, Museum Collection Centre, Aston Hall, Blakesley Hall and Museum of the Jewellery Quarter have all achieved Full Accreditation status following our submission to Arts Council England last summer.
The UK Museum Accreditation Standard is the national benchmark for well-run museums. It demonstrates that our sites are effectively managed, that collections are cared for to the highest professional standards, and that we actively consult and engage diverse audiences through a wide range of onsite and digital programmes.
Achieving Full Accreditation provides assurance to visitors, partners and funders that our museums meet rigorous national standards. This latest success builds on the Full Accreditation awarded to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery last year.
Toby Watley, Director of Collections at Birmingham Museums Trust, said:
“This is a huge achievement and a significant moment for Birmingham Museums Trust. Full Accreditation is recognition of the high standards to which we operate our museums and care for our collections. It reflects the professionalism, expertise and dedication of our staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly behind the scenes and front of house to ensure a high-quality visitor experience for everyone who comes to enjoy our museums and historic properties.
“Well done to everyone involved in writing, developing, collating and reviewing the many papers, policies, strategies, plans and application forms that we worked on and submitted last summer. This award belongs to the whole team.”
