We want to make the collections more accessible as one of the city’s greatest cultural assets and a priceless resource for learning, engagement, and creativity. The Dynamic Collections programme aims to open access to the collections in new ways, working in participation with the people of Birmingham, UK and beyond, to improve the overall collections access and information we hold on our databases. This will help us and the public to get the most out of the collections which surround us.

One of the new ways the Dynamic Collections programme hopes to increase access is by offering a unique behind-the-scenes experience to get hands-on with the collections. We're welcoming groups, in-person, to take part in auditing activities which include checking the condition of objects in our collection and updating their records on our database. These activities take place on-site at the Museum Collections Centre, the main store for Birmingham Museums Trust and the only place to see collection items not currently on display.

We want to ensure participatory practices are at the forefront of our work and hope to create meaningful experiences for participants.
