Work Experience and Work Placements

Are you looking to experience working in a museum? Or hoping to get some behind the scenes knowledge? Or maybe you just want to find out about the working world.

Birmingham Museum’s Trust is the largest independent charitable trust of museums in the UK and we offer a range of opportunities for work experience and work placements.

Please read the below carefully to make sure you are following the right route in your enquiry.

Work Experience

Birmingham Museums Trust offers a number of work experience placements in various departments across our nine sites throughout the year.

Our work experience programme is open to anyone over the age of fifteen who is not currently in employment. Each placement is two weeks long and is a great chance to gain some experience of the sector, develop your skills and knowledge, as well as getting a general awareness of the working world.

Work Experience at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery (2017)

Work experience placements at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery (BMAG) in the Visitor Services Team are ideal for anyone who is interested in gaining experience of working life within a busy museum and art gallery. This two week placement provides an insight into the role of the Visitor Services Team. The placement will involve lots of visitor interaction, opportunity to spend time in our shop, observation of some of our child friendly workshops, as well as taking an active role in daily operations so you understand how BMAG operates.

These placements run from 9.15am-4pm on weekdays.
