Our collection of around 40,000 objects illustrates Birmingham’s important role in global industrial change, both in technical innovations and everyday industrial practice. Representing three centuries of scientific, technological and industrial development in Birmingham, its region and globally, it challenges accepted histories of industrialisation, empire and innovation.
