Volunteering

We are lucky to have an amazing team of volunteers supporting us at all nine of our sites. Our volunteers get involved with a whole range of projects and activities and we couldn't do what we do without them. 

Current Volunteer Opportunities

ELABorator at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery

We are looking for people who are excited by the idea of a gallery that aims to be playful, interactive and immersive. If you want to help us shape the future of museum displays and get involved with our Story Lab all about body image then we want to hear from you. You can find out more from our role profile.

Applications Close: Thursday 5th July
You will need to be available for a selection event on the morning of Thursday 12th July and then for an induction and training session on Thursday 19th July.

Summer Volunteering Opportunities

Are you looking for something different to do in the holidays? Do you want to gain some experience volunteering in museums? We have a number of special one week volunteering opportunities available to give you a taster of volunteering at Birmingham Museums over the summer holidays.

Summer Heritage Assistant at Aston Hall

We are looking for people who would be keen to join an enthusiastic team at our historic Aston Hall. If you would love some experience volunteering in a heritage building this could be the opportunity for you. You can find out more from our role profile.

  • Placement 1: 31st July - 4th August
  • Placement 2: 7th - 11th August
  • Placement 3: 14th - 18th August
  • Placement 4: 21st - 25th August
  • Placement 5: 28th August - 1st September

Applications Close: Monday 16th July
You’ll need to be available for an informal selection on the morning of Friday 20th July and for an induction on the morning of Wednesday 25th July.

Summer Activities Assistant at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery

We are looking for people who would be keen volunteer in an art gallery and museum. If you would love some experience volunteering working with children and families and engaging them with activities this could be the opportunity for you. You can find out more from our role profile.

Castle Keeper at Weoley Castle
