Friends

Since 1931, the Association of Friends has supported Birmingham Museums Trust by raising money to help finance BMT’s acquisitions. Some Members also volunteer their services as researchers, cataloguers and administrators (to name but a few) on a range of BMT projects.

The Friends give around £25,000 a year to Birmingham Museums, raised through subscriptions, events, outings and donations.

This money goes towards everything from buying and commissioning new works, to funding important development programmes, such as Aston Hall, Soho House, Blakesley Hall and the Birmingham History Galleries.

The money donated has also been instrumental in levering much larger sums of external funding (from bodies such as the V&A Purchase Fund, the Art Fund, the Heritage Lottery Fund and local charities) for acquisitions and development.
