Each year Birmingham Museums offers a range of opportunities for work experience and academic placements.
Please read the below carefully to make sure you are following the right route in your enquiry.
Our work experience programme is open to anyone 15 years or over who is not currently in employment. Each placement is one or two weeks long and is a great chance to gain some experience of the sector, develop your skills and knowledge, as well as getting a general awareness of the working world.
Given the current situation we have taken the decision to cancel all work experience placements at Birmingham Museums in 2020. We are planning to open our 2021 programme for applications in spring next year.
To support your interests in STEM or the Arts over this time we have produced the following blogs with some hints and tips for developing your skills and gaining insights into the working world: Keeping Interested in STEM and Keeping Interested in the Arts.
Birmingham Museums Trust is keen to support academic placements where possible which connect to an individual’s studies.
Academic placements will be advertised within academic institutions with which we have linked. If you are interested in completing an academic placement with us, please speak with your coordinator at your academic institution who can get in contact with the HR team directly to see what might be possible.
Please note due to an increasingly high level of demand we are unable to support all enquiries for an academic placement.
