The Waterhall is at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. The entrance is on Edmund Street. Follow directions to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, then walk past the main entrance and turn right. The Waterhall entrance is the second on the right and is clearly signposted outside. It is approximately 1 or 2 minutes walk away from the main entrance.

The drop off point to the Waterhall is the nearest road to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. This is on the corner where Edmund Street and Margaret Street meet, and it is a very short walk to the Waterhall entrance. Walk onto the pedestrianised area of Edmund Street and you will find the entrance on your left hand side.

Car Parking

Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery does not have a car park.

The closest car park is Town Hall Car Park which is 5 minutes walk from the museum, it is operated by Birmingham City Council (charges apply). For google maps and Sat Nav use postcode B1 1TA. Upon parking and leaving the car park, turn right once exiting on Brunel Street, left on Navigation Street and take the first left again up Hill Street, continuing to Chamberlain Square, at the end of the building turn right onto Edmund Street, the Gas Hall entrance is on the left.

Blue Badge parking can be found on Margaret Street and Edmund Street which are in close proximity to our Edmund Street lift entrance.


By Bus

Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is located within Chamberlain Square in the city centre and within short walking distance of Colmore Row where a number of city centre buses terminate. The closest bus stops to the museum are for the folloing buses.

By Tram

Town Hall tram stop is the nearest to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, a few minutes walk away. This tram stop is on Line 1 of the West Midlands Metro and is located outside the Birmingham Town Hall. It is a 2 minute trip from the Grand Station tram stop outside New Street Station.


By Rail

New Street Station

New Street station is 10 minutes walk away. From New Street Station main exit walk up Lower Temple Street and turn left onto New Street. Walk down New Street until you arrive at Victoria Square. Turn right at the end of the Council House building into Chamberlain Square, where the main entrance to Birmingham Musuem and Art Gallery is located on the right. For the lift entrance, walk to the end of the building turn right onto Edmund Street, the Gas Hall entrance is on the left.

Snow Hill Station

Snow Hill station is 10 minutes walk away. Turn right upon leaving Snow Hill Station onto Colmore Row. Walk down Colmore Row until you arrive at Victoria Square. Turn right at the end of the Council House building into Chamberlain Square, where the main entrance to Birmingham Musuem and Art Gallery is located on the right. For the lift entrance, walk to the end of the building turn right onto Edmund Street, the Gas Hall entrance is on the left.
