About Space Junk
Look up and imagine what’s really orbiting above us.
SPACE JUNK is a striking walkabout performance by HOURS Theatre Company, featuring a life-size astronaut in a space suit moving through the museum. As the performer roams the galleries, audiences are drawn into the growing problem of space junk, the thousands of pieces of debris left behind by satellites, rockets and missions to space.
This immersive performance brings a global issue down to Earth, exploring:
- What space junk is and where it comes from.
- Why it’s a growing crisis for space exploration and our planet.
- How our actions on Earth affect the space around us.
Blending visual theatre, science and storytelling, SPACE JUNK invites visitors to stop, watch, and think differently about the future of space.
A surprising, thought-provoking encounter for all ages, popping up throughout the museum.
