We are delighted to be able to welcome groups for a walking tour of the areas surrounding the picturesque Sarehole Mill followed by cream tea.

We can accommodate groups of 12 - 15 guests for a wonderful visit from just £15.50 per person.

A tour guide is telling a story and the visitors are standing listening to him. They are inside the mill and above them are the wooden beams and boards that make up the ceiling.

Walking tour with cream tea

Enjoy an informative and engaging walking tour of the areas surrounding the picturesque Sarehole Mill, one of only two surviving working watermills in Birmingham. In an area once called Sarehole, the mill is on the River Cole in Hall Green, Birmingham

There has been a mill on this site since 1542, but the current building dates from the mid-18th Century. In the 1850s a steam engine was installed and a chimney built, which provides Sarehole Mill with its distinctive silhouette.

When your group visits Sarehole Mill, we will explore the grounds and the mill pond, a favourite spot for wildlife in this peaceful location. You will also be able to hear about the mill - its history , its owners, how it has changed over the years and how we use it today.

We’ll also take you to the neighbouring Moseley Bog, not only was this area the inspiration for the famous stories of J.R.R. Tolkien, it’s a fabulous haven for nature and wildlife. With wooden boardwalks over the natural habitat, it is one of the city’s hidden gems.

We can accommodate groups of 12 – 15 people for a fascinating experience that will last around two hours. After an informative and exciting guided walking tour, you will have a cream tea either in the courtyard or in one of our covered spaces.

Your experience will include:

  • An introduction to the mill
  • A tour of Moseley Bog
  • Cream tea
  • Free time in the Gardens

This tour is available from Wednesday to Friday.

Walking tour with cream tea is just £15.50 person.

Please note guests must be fit to walk to Moseley Bog. Suitable footwear and outdoor clothing are recommended.

Group tours must be pre-booked, terms and conditions apply.

Coach parking is available on the road.
