Ancient Rome: Joining the Legion
School SessionsDelve into the history of Ancient Rome, where at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, using our private education rooms, we will bring action-packed Ancient Rome to the 21st century.
Using our wide range of collections both real and replica, with a little help from some entertaining dressing up opportunities, we will discover what the life of a soldier in Ancient Rome was like.
- Examining replica and original Roman artefacts develop an understanding of what life was like over 1000 years ago.
- Discuss the impact of the Roman invasion of 43AD and how ordinary people from all over the Roman Empire would join the Legion.
- Your students will role play as a Roman soldier, examining the armour and weapons, marching in-step, making shield walls and Testudo formations.
- Performing a mock Roman triumph in honour of your classes glory.
