Join us at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, where we will discuss art through history.

Using examples from our collection we will examine three different styles of art:

  • Starting at prehistoric art, we will discuss how prehistoric people made art and what emotions this might provoke.
  • Anglo-Saxon knotwork, the history behind our Staffordshire Hoard and Anglo-Saxon methods of creating art.
  • Pre-Raphaelite art. Discover the background to the Pre-Raphaelite movement and examine some of the pieces on display in our museum.

Your class will get the chance to have a go at making each of the three art topics. They will also, through Learning Officer guidance, discuss emotions and feelings behind art.

You will get the chance to take home your creations with you.

Important Information

Parts of the tour require movement and action. If your class has any access needs, please contact us in advance so steps can be taken to ensure everyone has the best experience.
