A talk by the curator and owner of the Space Vault Exhibition is being hosted by Thinktank, Birmingham science museum on Sunday 8 February prior to the launch of the joint NASA and European Space Agency Artemis II mission.

Back to the Moon, a presentation and Q&A session by Dr Michael Warner, will be held in the Space Vault Exhibition, a collection of historic artifacts from human space exploration, currently on public display at Thinktank.

The Artemis II mission will send four astronauts on a 10-day trip around the moon and back to earth. This flight marks a key step towards a long‑term return to the moon and future missions to Mars.

In his talk, Dr Warner will describe the Artemis II flight plan, mission objectives and roles of the astronauts.

The audience will also see image montages from the far side of the moon, showing what Commander Reid Wiseman and his team will describe to billions of earthlings as their spacecraft Orion flies the farthest distance into space that humans have ever been.

Dr Michael Warner said:

“I am delighted that the Birmingham Museums Trust is supporting this event to celebrate the forthcoming Artemis II mission.

“The talk will offer people in Birmingham a chance to share in the wonder of this next giant leap for humankind in the exploration of our vast solar system.”
