Make your own wind-powered toy with a Materials Scientist and Zoologist!
A playful engineering activity Inspired by the story of William Kamkwamba, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. You'll also be able to chose your favourite animal to be the star of your toy with guidance from zoologists Aaron Matthew and Amelia Shervington-White.
What Does it Take to Become a Motorsports Engineer?
Take part in a hands-on simulation of a race engineer’s role across a race weekend, using a remote-controlled electric car as a scaled-down representation of a real racing vehicle. Through a sequence of practice sessions, you'll observe vehicle behaviour, receive driver feedback, and perform setup changes in timed mechanic-style roles before re-running the session to assess how these adjustments affect dynamics. You'll be introduced to a selection of remote-controlled car components such as a race car battery and suspension parts which act as scaled-down versions of real-world systems, helping you understand some of the systems of racing cars. This interactive activation begins with a short presentation introducing the range of career opportunities in motorsport, highlighting key roles within a race team and the skills required to succeed in the industry. The experience introduces key engineering principles, encourages collaborative team communication, and real-world events insights.
