This full-day session gives students practical experience of the processes involved in PCR whilst trying pinpoint the source of a fictional virus.

Using micropipettes, learners will add to samples and then duplicate target DNA in our thermocycler.

After lunch, we will collect our samples from the machine and load them into electrophoresis gels before staining and rinsing to reveal the source of the outbreak.

Students will also extract their own DNA and participate in a debating session focused on genetics.
