Local History and Landscapes

Thursday 6th June 2024, 10am - 2pm

Join us at Sarehole Mill for a day of CPD for Key Stage 2 and 3 teachers. Discover the history of the museum and local area, supporting you to teach local history.

In addition, we’ll explore how to use outdoor learning with your students and the science found in the natural world on your doorstep.

Urban Nature is an opportunity to help your students get outdoors, observe nature and ask their own scientific questions. We’ll provide practical, hands-on ideas to support your outdoor exploration.

This workshop is targeted at Key Stage 2 teachers, but may be of interest to teachers working with slightly younger or older students. The workshop will include a chance to explore the site and network with other teachers. Parts of the workshop will take place outside, please wear appropriate outdoor clothing.

The workshop is free to attend but booking is required.

Lunch will be provided; you will be contacted in advance for any dietary and access requirements.

Making Art with Nature

Friday 21st June 2024, 10am - 2pm

Join us at Blakesley Hall for this brand new CPD workshop exploring the use of nature in art practice.

Urban Nature is an opportunity to help your students get outdoors, observe nature and use it as a starting point for enquiry across the curriculum. We’ll provide practical, hands-on ideas to support your outdoor exploration, focusing mainly on the art curriculum but with suggestions for other subject areas.

Using materials from the Blakesley Hall gardens we will get hands-on with techniques such as hapa-zome, solar printing, making and painting with natural dyes and much more. The workshop will be supported by practitioners from Wild Earth Movement, a local environmental charity.
