About Legacy of a Madman - A tribute to the prince of darkness
Join us for an afternoon of live music performances exploring the impact of Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath and Birmingham's role as the birthplace of heavy metal.
Good to know
This performance takes place in the Industrial Gallery, a gallery environment, not a traditional live music venue. We kindly ask all visitors to be mindful of their surroundings and respectful of the historical objects on display. Please note that seating within the gallery is limited. Thank you for helping us protect and preserve the collection while enjoying the performance.
The event is part of an external Culture Walk led by Children Of The Grave Bookings. Attendees can journey through some of the most significant landmarks in the story of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne before arriving at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery for this performance. Children Of The Grave Bookings (COTGB)
Children Of The Grave Bookings (COTGB) came from a belief and a love for who we are as a culture. Founded in the birthplace of Heavy Metal, Birmingham, they are a music and events collective dedicated to celebrating and supporting rock, metal and alternative culture. Through live events, community projects and artist collaborations, COTGB works to preserve Birmingham's rich musical heritage while creating opportunities for the next generation of musicians, creatives and fans. Their work focuses on building community, celebrating legacy and ensuring that the stories which shaped heavy music continue to inspire future generations
to hold the torch.
Legacy of a Madman (2026)
Legacy of a Madman builds upon the spirit of the memorial gathering, transforming remembrance into celebration. Developed in collaboration with the Birmingham Museums, the event celebrates the legacy of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, their influence on Birmingham, and their lasting contribution to music and culture worldwide. Bringing together fans, musicians, cultural organisations and the wider community, the event seeks to honour the artists, the city and the generations they inspired. More than a tribute, Legacy of a Madman is an opportunity to recognise Birmingham's place at the heart of heavy metal history and help carry that legacy forward for future generations.
About the organisers
ASH FARLEY
Born and raised in Birmingham, Ash Farley grew up surrounded by alternative music before discovering a lifelong passion for rock and metal. Deeply connected to the culture, history, and community that grew from Birmingham's musical heritage, Ash has always believed in the importance of preserving and celebrating the stories behind the music.
His passion for live music and the city's role in shaping heavy metal inspired him to help create Legacy of a Madman, giving fans an opportunity to come together and honour Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, and the legacy they leave behind.
HARLEY
Raised in a metal-loving family, Harley has spent much of his life immersed in the rock and metal community. A musician, photographer, and co-founder of Children Of The Grave Bookings, he has travelled extensively performing and documenting some of the biggest names in heavy music.
As President of the UK Chapter of Black Label Society, and a relative of Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward, Harley brings both a personal and community connection to the legacy being celebrated. His work focuses on bringing people together through music and ensuring the culture that inspired him continues to thrive for future generations.
DRACO (D.R.A.C.0)
Born into a heavy metal family, Dom “Draco” Friedlander has spent his life immersed in rock and metal culture — there are even photographs of his mother performing on stage while pregnant with him.
A bassist for over 17 years, Draco has dedicated his career to pushing the boundaries of the instrument within heavy music, becoming one of the youngest musicians in recent decades to receive a signature instrument through Doro Guitars.
After moving to Birmingham to follow in the footsteps of the pioneers who created heavy metal, Draco built a career performing and collaborating with musicians around the world. A passionate advocate for Birmingham's musical heritage, he co-founded Children Of The Grave Bookings to help celebrate the city's cultural legacy, support the next generation of artists, and ensure the torch carried by Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath continues to inspire future generations.
He considers it a great honour to perform as part of the city’s tribute to Ozzy’s life and legacy.
