Pakistani Truck Art–Inspired Greeting Cards with Hira Butt

This family-friendly workshop invites participants of all ages to create handmade greeting cards inspired by the vibrant visual culture of Pakistani truck art.
Known for its bold colours, intricate patterns, floral motifs, and playful mix of poetry, humour, and meaningful messages, Pakistani truck art transforms everyday vehicles into moving works of art and storytelling. This distinctive style provides a rich and joyful source of inspiration for creativity. In this relaxed, hands-on session, participants will explore these visual traditions while designing their own personalised cards.

What to expect

  • Participants will choose from a selection of traditional truck art–inspired symbols, motifs, colours, and phrases (pre-printed on cards)
  • Use provided templates or create their own original designs
  • Decorate cards using paint pens, markers, collage materials, and decorative patterns
  • Add personal messages, advice, prayers, or poetry inspired by truck art traditions

Everyone will leave with a collection of unique, colourful cards,perfect for gifting, keeping, or displaying as small works of art.

This event is also part of the Spirit of Pakistan Festival.

About the artist

Hira Butt

Hira Butt is a British Pakistani artist based in Birmingham, England. Born in 1987, Butt migrated to England from Lahore, Pakistan, after completing her Bachelor in Fine Arts in December 2009. Since then, Butt has worked on and off in different creative fields. In 2016, Butt got the opportunity to study Fine Arts and relished the chance; she stretched herself as an artist and completed her master in 2018 by winning the Master Degree Prize in Medium Practice, Birmingham City University.
