Step inside our Planetarium and join us for one of our planetarium shows.
We have three different shows running every day during the Weekday Christmas holidays (23 December 2024 - 2 January 2025,) Note Thinktank is closed 22 December, 24-26 December and 1 January. The show schedule for weekdays is shown below.
Planetarium shows cost £3.50 per person per show (£3 for members), in addition to Thinktank's admission price.
Pre-booking available online as an add-on activity when you purchase your admission tickets.
Christmas Planetarium shows weekdays
Polaris
The story is about Vladimir the polar bear and James the penguin, who meet at the North Pole; they then try to understand why their respective homes have such long winters.
Using Vladimir’s construction skills and James’ scientific knowledge they take a journey into space to observe the Earth, and compare their observations with other planets in the solar system.
Their journey is not all plain-sailing, and we share some of their adventures on their quest for knowledge.
Show length 28min, all ages, ideal for young families.
Show times: 12noon (captioned) and 2.15pm
Tonight's Sky
Presenter-led show looking in detail at the highlights of the current night sky.
Show length 25min, suitable for ages 5+
Show times (23, 29, 30, 31 December): 11am and 1.30pm
Unseen Earth
Earth isn’t just a serene blue sphere—it’s a living, shifting world. Satellites reveal the Earth's hidden colours, patterns, and urgent changes.
Come and see cutting-edge observation programs unlocking new insights, helping humanity respond faster to the planet’s transformations. (Trailer below)

Seasonal Stars: Winter
A show about easy-to-see objects in this season's sky; includes how to find the North Star and how to find some of the seasonal constellations.
*This includes the 10min show: The Largest Stars in the Universe
How massive can stars truly be? From our Sun to cosmic giants like Betelgeuse, Mu Cephei, and Stephenson 2-18, this show reveals the huge scale of the universe’s biggest stars - and just how small our Solar System really is.
Total show length 20min, suitable for all ages.
Show times (2 Jan): 11am and 1.30pm
