About Birmingham Heritage Week: Explore The Factory Floor
Join us on Saturday 20th September as the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter opens its doors for Birmingham Heritage Week.
During your visit you’ll get the chance to step inside the historic Smith & Pepper factory and explore the fascinating Story of the Jewellery Quarter gallery.
When the proprietors of the Smith & Pepper jewellery manufacturing firm retired in 1981, they simply ceased trading and locked the door, unaware they were leaving behind a perfectly preserved time capsule for future generations.
On the day, you’ll be able to explore this extraordinary space and discover what it was like to work there. You’ll also visit the Story of the Jewellery Quarter gallery, which tells the 200-year story of the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter, the heart of the British jewellery industry, and its rich tradition of craft skills.
We’ll be open from 10.30am to 4pm. Last entry is 3.30pm (please note the tearoom will not be open on this day).
Pre-booking is recommended.
