Step beyond the gallery walls and into the hidden heart of Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. Our 'Hidden Spaces Tours' offer a rare opportunity to explore areas of the building that are usually closed to the public — including storerooms, tucked-away corridors, and architectural gems often overlooked.

Join our expert guides as you:

  • Wander through off-limits spaces
  • Soak in the incredible Victorian architecture from a new perspective
  • Hear about recent and upcoming renovation projects
  • Encounter a few collection superstars along the way
  • Enjoy quirky tales from Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery's colourful past, from mysterious goings-on to hidden passageways

The building itself is one of our most fascinating artefacts, come and experience it in a whole new light.

All tours start at 11am and last approximately 1 hour.

Spooky Spaces

Please note that this tour involves accessing lower levels via a narrow staircase and two additional flights of stairs. Unfortunately, this means it is not suitable for visitors who cannot use stairs, including wheelchair or mobility scooter users. We recommend this tour only for visitors with a confident level of mobility.
