About Ozzy Osbourne Inspired Recycled Jewellery Workshop

Join us for an this interactive drop-in workshop as part of our Black Sabbath celebration programme, which invites participants to create their own interpretation of Ozzy Osbourne’s iconic cross pendant using recycled aluminium and reclaimed materials. Ozzy’s famous cross necklace, originally made for him by his father, has become one of the most recognisable symbols associated with both Ozzy and the wider heavy metal community. This workshop draws inspiration from that personal story and  Birmingham’s musical and making heritage.

Participants will:

  • Design and create their own wearable cross pendant.
  • Work primarily with recycled beer cans and reclaimed materials.
  • Learn simple jewellery-making and metalworking techniques
  • Take home a completed pendant inspired by Ozzy’s iconic jewellery.

The workshop will be led by Laura Cave, a graduate of The School of Jewellery, Birmingham, and the Royal College of Art, London. Laura has over 30 years’ experience working co-creatively with artisan craft makers in emerging economies. She brings extensive expertise in ethical jewellery design, sustainable craft practice, and community workshop facilitation. She is also the founder and director of Just Trade, which supplies museum and gallery gift shops internationally, including BMAG. Laura will be assisted by her fellow director and sister, Ali Cave. Together, they will deliver an engaging and accessible drop-in workshop suitable for all abilities.

No prior jewellery-making experience required.
