About Pride in STEM Day

LGBTQIA+ people have always been a part of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics - pushing boundaries, asking bold questions, and shaping the world we live in.

With this event we want to shine a spotlight on the innovators, thinkers, and trailblazers from across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum who are transforming STEM from the lab bench to the launch pad.

With a fabulous live science show, interactive activities, and more, join us as we celebrate the past, present, and future of LGBTQIA+ excellence in STEM. Representation matters now more than ever, let's stand together for a more inclusive, equitable future.

This space is for everyone. Allies welcome. Curiosity encouraged.

What to expect:

  • Fab-lab-ulous!
Fab-lab-ulous! is an interactive science show inspired by the stories of LGBTQIA+ scientists. The show is full of colourful science demonstrations for the whole family to enjoy. This show is presented by the talented Sarah Cosgriff (she/they), an award winning queer science communicator with a background in biology. Not to be missed!
  • Skills Spotlight
Join in with hands-on activities across the galleries and hear directly from a range of talented STEM leaders and experts about their work, their passions, and the skills that drive innovation today.
  • LGBTQ+ museum trail
Discover the often-hidden queer stories behind science and technology. This self-guided trail highlights LGBTQIA+ history through our artefacts and exhibits. Revealing the museum’s collections through a proudly queer lens.
  • And more!
